Imagine wanting to listen to a podcast during your commute to work but you’ve forgotten your headphones. Now, before your day turns sour, Spotify’s new feature comes to your rescue. Spotify has announced its new feature that automatically generates and syncs podcast transcriptions, allowing you to read along while you listen or continue watching without sound.

This feature will be great for times when you can’t listen out loud. It will also act like a bookmark within an episode, eliminating the worry of losing your place. When you can’t remember where you left off, you won’t have to listen to the entire episode; all you need to do is scroll and jump to the right spot.

To view a portion of the text, you’ll need to pull up the ‘Now Playing’ view. Then, swipe over to the ‘Read Along’ card, and tap to open the text in full screen. Transcripts are synchronized with the audio timeline, allowing you to see subtitles live.

So, which Spotify plans will offer this feature? Spotify will begin offering the new transcription feature to both free and premium plan users. Therefore, you’ll be able to access this feature in the coming weeks. Additionally, podcast creators will soon be able to add media to transcripts, allowing users to see alongside a description.

In addition to episode transcriptions, Spotify is expanding its episode features. This new feature will allow all mobile app users to see an episode list from the ‘Now Playing’ view.
